Time for a Spring Spruce Up!

Updated: Jun 7, 2023

The official first day of Spring is March 20—only 11 days away! Looking out my window right now at the gray skies and pouring rain, that seems impossible . . .

. . . but I have seen signs of Spring popping up around me on my neighborhood walks! The magnolia trees, tulips and daffodils are all showing off right now.

Since we've had the wettest Winter on record where I live, I'm especially excited to get into Spring mode, both in my wardrobe and my home. You don't have to spend a bunch of money to Spruce Up for the new season . . . and I've done the shopping for you!

Tablecloths

Spread some Spring across your table, no matter your budget.

Left to right: Ikea Rutig tablecloth, $21.99; Striped Linen tablecloth by Jauja Linen on Etsy, $48.57 on sale; and the Metronome Peach tablecloth by BlockShop Textiles, $135 (more of a splurge, but also a work of art!)

Pillows

Head to Ikea for these affordable pillow covers that just scream "Spring"!

Left to right: Parksallat, $5.99; Nattslanda, $14.99; Rotfjaril, $6.99

Tabletop Decor

Your dresser, coffee table or kitchen island needs one of these hits of Spring!

Left to right: The Sun Vase from Nathan&Co. ($44) will hold your Gerber daisies in style; Jungalow's new Ceramic and Rope table lamp for Target ($70) brings some funky freshness to your space; keep your jewelry, coins or matchbooks in this beautiful Lauren McIntosh Trinket Dish at Anthropologie (only $18!)

For Your Kitchen

Bring touches of Spring flowers and plants to your kitchen with these picks.

Left to right: Tea towels from Geometry (one of my BFFs just gifted me these three!), $16 each; Jerrelle Guy Teaspoons from Anthropologie, $36 for set of 4; and a new Francesca Kaye Floral mug to make your caffeine habit prettier ($16 at Anthropologie)

No-Spend Spruce Ups!

It doesn't have to cost a penny to Spruce Up for Spring. With a little creativity you can easily refresh your home for the new season. Try one of these ideas:

  • Rearrange your furniture. It's amazing how moving things around can give your space new energy.

  • Restyle your bookshelves. Take everything off your shelves, then have some fun placing them in new vignettes and color arrangements. Switch decor items between rooms too!

  • Repurpose items. Take three colorful coffee mugs from the kitchen and line them up down the middle of the dining table, put one flower in each mug, and you have a fun floral arrangement. Put a cute tea towel in a frame you already have and hang it on your wall. And anything can be a plant stand—an old bench or stool, a sturdy basket turned upside down, or a stack of old books.

Use your imagination and have fun!
